Note: This chart does not mark every sphere in the region, just the better documented ones.
Philogiston Navigation:
The Complete SpaceFarer's Handbook quite properly lists Navigation, Philogiston
seperately from Wildspace navigation, but does not explain why. The reason
is fairly simple, there are precious few landmarks or navigation aids in
the flow. So how does one get from place to place? The easiest method is
to follow a flow river, and that is done by determining the predominate
colors of the areas flow. There are many major flow rivers through the
philogiston, and each has a distinctive color scheme that makes it distinct
from the others. Since most crystal spheres remain in relatively stable
positions within the flow one can navigate by counting the spheres passed
as one follows the river. River intersections provide another means for
determing location, as the colors do not intermix (Sages still debate the
reasons for this). Traval to sphere's outside a major flow is much more
time consuming and difficult: the navigator must first determine his/her
exact position within the sphere to be departed, then he/she must determine
at what angle from the sphere the destination sphere lies and plot a direct
course to it. Obviously this method is very risky, though some navigators
are so good they hit everytime. The navigation proficiency roll should
be given a -6 penalty when attempting Philogiston navigation without a
river.

The Space:1889 crystal sphere: | Located away from any major rivers this was only recently discovered by an Elven Man-o-War. Only artifact level magic (like Helms) and spells upto 2nd level function here. I'll post more on this later. |
Solspace: | This sphere uses the Earth at the center of the system organization and represents our Solarsystem as it was believed to be during the Darkages. However, magic works. Some individuals are aware of spelljamming. Use the Age of Charlemange and Vikings Historical accessories to get the feel of this sphere. |
Falxspace: | Sphere of Falx, mentioned as a Mindflayer planet. I use the "Sunset World" Dragon #150 to get the right feel for this place. |
Darnannon: | An Elven sphere mentioned in Dungeon #36 |
Pirtel: | Mentioned in Dungeon #36 and #45. A fairly standard sphere. |
Talangran: | The sphere holds the Talangran Empire, a spelljamming aware groundling nation with superior technology and a thirst for Elven slaves. In my campaign the Talangran Empire has begun to expand into the stars. Inspired by "The Lady Rose" Dungeon #39(?) |
Korvspace: | Elven dominated sphere from Polyhedron #81 |
Herdspace: | Very strange crystal sphere from The Maelstrom's Eye. |
Heartspace: | home of Crescent, planet holding the Great Archive from The Broken Sphere. |
